MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Christmas 2007

Dear Friends and Family,

Forgive the traditional form letter, but writing a personal card via USPS from Kinshasa is not an option. First and foremost, I want you to know that I appreciate you more than I will ever be able to tell you on this blog. I wish I could give you a giant hug! All I can do is send you my heart-felt wishes for a very blessed Christmas and a 2008 that is filled with God's presence.

I don't know how the rest of my time here will play out, but in reality, no one knows any more than that from one day to the next. Or one minute to the next. We are totally dependent on God's grace. What mercy He constantly shows us!

This will be a strange Christmas for me. I am grateful to have found a church home, and have no doubt that I will celebrate with others who are without family, etc. The worship service this morning was a confirmation of God's powerful promise, providing the inspiration from Romans 11:33 & 36: "Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways...For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen."

Hallelujah!

With my love,
Jane

Dear Jane: Joy to the World - including Jane! This third Sunday of Advent emphasizes the Joy we share because the Christ Child God is with us always. What a wonderful gift to know that He loved us first and that no matter where we are He is with us. Bless you Jane - your message today brings peace knowing that you are at peace in your new surroundings. Love and peace - Pete & Carolyn

Dear Jane,
Our Lessons and Carols on Sunday was just beautiful and I felt so blessed to be able to sing with the choir. We are also blessed to have Kathryn as our director! She also directed our youth choir that morning and we had the flutes play as well. During the lighting of the Advent candles this year, Jan has asked individuals to say something about hope, which was Dave Vander Wal, love, Jason Zuidema and last week joy, done by Chris and Julie Hordyk. Everyone's testimony was beautiful. Dave said they go forth with the hope of Christ for their health, Jason said that they so appreciated the love shown to them during the birth of their new baby girl, and Chris & Julie spoke of the joy they have in their marriage. We look forward to the next testimony. Your greetings are so positive and we continue to pray that you will be filled with hope, love, joy and peace during this beautiful Christmastime. Our prayer group met this AM and now we are down to the three of us again. The Roelofs left for Texas last week. WE MISS YOU!! Be assured that you are always included in our prayers. I am feeling much better and am looking forward to our Christmas with our son from GR. We extend to you our love and prayers for God's richest blessings now and in 2008. Don and Barb

Jane,
Blessings from sunny southerncalifornia. Looking forward to finding that right time for Judy and i to be with you in person.
Was reminded this morning when reading about the shepherds that their reaction was to tell everyone. What a blessing that the great message of Christmas and the journey to Easter is for everyone. Know you are loved by many and spread it around. Blessings, Cuz Bruce

Hi Don and Barb: Responded toyour comment on "Abigail Martin."
For Cousin Bruce and Judy: Experiencing Christmas where there is such abject poverty but deep presence of Christ and the Holy Spirit forces me to think about what life is really about. I just gave Boniface, my sentinel/gardener a piece of bread, and a few other tidbits. it is 12:00 noon and he has had nothing to eat yet. He is thrilled to be working today as a fill-in for the regular guy who has the holiday off. Boniface will earn $5.00 for the day. He has been trimming branches all morning.
Such is life here. Everyone is hungry, looking for money, a handout, help.
One does what one can.
Thanks for writing! Love to you both, Jane
